Daughters of Niger Delta premieres at Abuja International Film Festival

The much anticipated film/documentary project ‘Daughters of Niger Delta’ has premiered at the on-going Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF).

The film  premiered on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Silverbird Cinema, where the Abuja International Film Festival is holding.

Dayo Amusa tops BON Awards nominees’ list with 11 nods

These are good times for Nollywood actress and producer Dayo Amusa.

The ‘Unforgivable’ star is leading the list of this year’s nominees for the Best Of Nollywood (BON) Awards.

Dayo bagged 11 award nominations for the yet to be released film ‘Unforgivable’ in the list recently released by the organisers of the award.

BON will also honour two veteran Nollywood actors, Lanre Hassan, and Pete Edochie for their contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

The BON award is scheduled for November 9, 2013 in Asaba, Delta state.

PHOTOS: Seyi Shay debuts on Hennessy Artistry club tour…as Olamide surprises Phyno on stage

Seyi Shay made her debut Artistry appearance at Rhapsody’s Lounge Rhapsody’s Lounge in Victoria Island last weekend while Olamide replaced Hennessy Artistry headliner D’Banj who was stuck in London.

Phyno who had already started thrilling fans with hit song, Man of the Year got a shocker when he started performing Ghost Mode as Olamide stormed the stage to perform the track with him driving guests wild. Olamide later performed Durosoke before leaving the stage.

Sean Tizzle and Kay Switch also delivered energetic performances thrilling fans with some of their hit songs.

Tonight’s stop for the club tour is Crescendo in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. The event will feature performances from Phyno, Chidinma, Vector and Sean Tizzle.

Late Mc Loph's Mother Passes On

Two years after losing her only son and daughter in a tragic road accident, Late Mc Loph's mother, Mrs Obiajulu has passed on. She passed away few days ago at a private hospital in Enugu State. Late Mc Loph died on the 14th of Sept., 2011 on his way to his home town to prepare for his forth coming traditional marriage alongside his elder sister. His fiancee who was in the car with them survived. She later gave birth to their son, few months later.  RIP Mama.

Chinese man has new nose grown on his forehead after losing his nose in a car crash

A 22 year old Chinese man named Xiaolian has had a new nose grown on his forehead after loosing his original nose in a car accident. Xiaolian had the treatment to create a replacement for his original nose which was infected and deformed following the accident in 2012. He actually left his damaged nose unattended to after the accident which led to the infection and eventual deformity, leaving the surgeons unable to repair it.

Surgeons in China were left with no option than to create another nose for the man to breathe properly and then transplant it to the original place. The nose was created by placing a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian’s forehead. This was cut into the shape of a nose and was supported by cartilage taken from the man’s ribs. Continue...

The Lagos –Badagry expressway is a Federal Government road which is currently being expanded to 10 lanes to accommodate a BRT lane and light rail through collaborative efforts of the state govt, the  federal govt and international financial agencies.

Julius Berger is handling the 10 lane road segment while China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), is handling the Light Rail section of the road.

Mixed reactions trail Muslimah beauty pageant won by Nigerian girl

Mixed reactions have trailed the just concluded World Muslimah Beauty Pageant organized for the Islamic womenfolk as a suitable option to the glamorous Miss World beauty pageant. The pageant which held in Jakatar, Indonesia last week, saw young Nigerian University of Lagos student, Aisha Ajibola Olabiyi, clinch the winning title, with a cash prize of $2,200 and a trip to Mecca.

67year old Nigerian man dies on United flight from Lagos to Houston

 A  67 year old Nigerian passenger died on a United Airline flight which left Lagos on Monday night September 23rd and landed in Houston, USA early Tuesday morning.

Benedict Sylvester Igwedike died in the air after the flight left Lagos according to the Houston Police Department. Mr Igwedike was found dead in his seat on United Flight 143 which arrived at George Bush Intercontinental Airport yesterday Tuesday September 24th

Houston police say they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death, according to a press release.

Bovi and wife welcome baby girl in the US

‘And the greatest gift of all just arrived. My beautiful daughter just arrived‘, those were the words stand-up comedian Bovi Ugboma tweeted hours ago after he and his wife welcomed their new born – a baby girl.

The comedian says his daughter was born in the early hours of September 26, 2013 in a US hospital, a day after his birthday. Interestingly, Bovi’s wife also celebrated her birthday on September 18.
