Senator Yerima has been under heavy scrutiny for marrying a 13 year old Egyptian teenager sometime ago. Although he the criticism was not as high as it got few months ago.
He has defended himself countless times by backing up his actions by the Quran and the act of Mohammad who allegedly married a 9 year old. In an interview with Al Jazeera he told them if he had to do it he will do it again and he does not owe anyone an explanation neither the Nigerian constitution.
