Jesse Jackson Jr, son of American civil rights leader, Jesse Jackson Snr. has been sentenced to 30 months in prison.

According to reports by New York Times, the former law maker was sentenced by Judge Amy Jackson of the US District Court after pleading guilty to embezzling $750,000 in money he had raised for his campaign for personal use.

In the hearing in February 2013, Jackson revealed that some of the money was spent on things like a $43,000 Rolex, mink capes, vacations, meals for his mistress, two mounted elk heads and a fedora that once belonged to Michael Jackson.

His wife, Sandra Jackson, 49, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for omitting $580,000 in income from the couple’s tax returns while they lived lavishly.

Jackson, 48, who was a democratic congressman since 1995 until he resigned last November will begin his sentence on November 1, 2013.
