Mikel on his way to Turkey to team up with Drogba

Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel could be on his way to Turkey, to team up with former Chelsea club mate Didier Drogba at Galatasaray before the end of summer transfer window.

Galatasaray tabled a bid of 10m pounds (about N25om) for Mikel and it was gathered that Chelsea was considering it even as Brazilian international Willian is been expected to arrive Stamford Bridge.

Mikel has not featured for Chelsea under Jose Mourinho this season and this has fueled speculations that he will be allowed to leave the club to make room for incoming Willian who is also a midfielder.

Napoli of Italy are also interested in signing Mikel and the Super Eagles play-maker will likely choose where he will be guarantee of regular football.

Turkey is already home to top Nigeria footballers like Joseph Yobo, Emmanuel Emenike, Mike Eneramo and lately defender Godfrey Oboabona who was revealed during the week by  Caykur Rizespor.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has quashed rumours Juan Mata could be departing Chelsea this summer as he admitted that Mikel and others could be leaving. But the Chelsea boss has again stated Mata will remain part of his plans.

“He is a player we all like, he is a player we want to keep. We want more quality in the team, not less,’ Mourinho said.

‘Juan is not a player we want to lose.’(vanguard)
