Oregon Teacher Arrested after Stealing and Pawning Student's Watch

Students and staff at the Oregon City School District were shocked when a teacher was arrested for stealing a student’s watch.

Kevin Strasser, 42, of Oregon, who is a physical education teacher and head coach of the high school football team, was charged with robbery and official misconduct for the theft of the watch that belonged to one of his students.

Student Cameron Rogers, 18, said that he was upset when his watch disappeared during the last week of school. He worked months to save up to $600 dollars to buy the jewel-encrusted Ice Time watch for his birthday.

When the student told Strasser, who was his weightlifting teacher at the time about the disappearance of the watch, Strasser admitted that he saw the watch in the lost and found property box, but said he did not know who took it.

Rogers thought he would never see the watch again. Until one day a friend of Rogers saw his watch in a local pawn shop. Police were able to identify Strasser as the suspect.

School officials issued a statement saying: "We are all shocked and saddened by the news. Anytime the actions of an educator betrays the trust of our students and community, we are heartbroken."

A substitute teacher replaced Strasser pending the outcome of the investigation.
Strasser was booked into the Clackamas County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
