Katy Perry to perform at 2013 MTV EMA as Psquare, Wizkid eye Best African Act Award



International Pop singer Katy Perry is set to return to the big stage for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).

The three-time EMA winner who hosted the event in 2008 and 2009, performed in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and also presented an award in 2011 returns to the stage this year to perform her new single ‘Unconditional’.
Perry whose upcoming album PRISM drops on October 22 has expressed her excitement at returning to the EMAs. ‘I’m so excited to return to the EMA stage!  I have tailor-made a performance of a brand new song from PRISM to share with fans from around the world on November 10.’

This year’s EMA nomination list is led by Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with five nods each, while Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke are each up for four awards.
Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Daft Punk, Rudimental, Icona Pop and One Direction are each nominated for three awards, with Rihanna, Katy Perry, Eminem, Jay Z, Bastille, and  Imagine Dragons all up for two awards each.

Other artists with two EMA nods are The Killers, Paramore, Rita Ora, Drake, Afrojack, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Iggy Azalea.

LCNVL and Mafikizolo from South Africa, Nigeria’s P-Square, and Wizkid, as well as Ghana’s Fuse ODG are all up for the Best African Act category.

The 2013 MTV EMA will hold at the  Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam Sunday November 10, and will broadcast live on MTV, DStv Channel 130.
