Fashion news alert! Marc Jacobs is leaving French fashion house Louis Vuitton. Reports say the fashion designer wants to focus on his eponymous label as it heads towards an IPO.
The news was confirmed by LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault on October 2, 2013. Jacobs will be ending his 16-year run at the high end fashion brand.
Jacobs also presented his final show for the brand this week – apparently a celebration of his greatest hits with the label.
‘This (Marc Jacobs) brand has an enormous potential all over the world‘, Arnault told fashion news outlet WWD.
Jacobs’ replacement has not yet been named, although former Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquière looks like the likely successor.
