Lupita Nyong’O to go against Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts in 2014 Oscars?



Predictions have continued to spring up with regards to the 2014 OSCAR awards coming up in March next year; with many opining Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong’O is eligible to battle for the award of ‘Best Supporting Actress’ alongside two major Hollywood players- Oprah Winfrey and Julia Roberts.

Lupita Nyong’O’s role in ’12 years a slave’, Oprah Winfrey in ‘The Butler’ and Julia Roberts in ‘August: Osage County’ have been described as wonderful but competing acting skills.

Even though Nyong’O has less recognition compared to these Hollywood stars, it seems her performance is beginning to speak for her.

The 30-year-old Kenyan actress and filmmaker has also taken part in stage productions like Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ and ‘The Winter’s tale’,Getrude Stein’s ‘Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights’ and Chekhov’s ‘Uncle Vanya’.

She recently made her US film debut in British director Steve McQueen’s ‘12 years a slave’.
